monitoring HDD spindown
hey guys,
I want to try and save some $$ on the power bill by spinning down the hdd on my gateway machine.
I know i can set the spindown with `hdparm -S` and i can get the current status with `hdparm -C`
But how can i monitor the status over a long time. To see how many times it spun up etc.
I think if i make a script to run `hdparm -C` every so often the drive will have to spin up to read the hdparm executable anyway.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.
