Curious multiboot problem
I am running a multiboot system using two SATA drives on an ASUS A8N-E/AMD64 system. Multibooting (using boot.ini and bootpart) WinXP and UBUNTU has been working fine for several months. This morning turned on computer to get "DISK BOOT FAILURE" message. Was able to get WInXP to boot after switching the two drives (just switched SATA cables on them), but UBUNTU now will not boot - probably can't find files because is looking on the wrong disk? If I switch the cables back to the original configuration the system will not boot.
Both drives are working fine because I have extended partitions on both and NTFS partitions on both that are readable and writable by Win XP. But have no idea why this could be happening - why should switching the drives around make the system bootable?
Does anyone have any ideas?
