digital camera

Hey guys.. How exactly would I use my digital camera on my Nix box? I never had to use one before. it's a USB camera, and i don't have USB support. I don't know how digital camera's work. But i'm assuming they need a driver and some form of software, Unless the GIMP will import photos?
