Thanks for that Chris and big_k105, I have just had to copy the libgphoto2.pc file from /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig directory to /usr/lib/pkgconfig directory and now the ./configure works.
I have installed the software, well at least I think I have!!!!
I will let you know if I can get it to work
Ok, I am stuck again!!!!!
Sorry to keep asking stupid questions but I am new to all of this.
I have installed both bits of software (I think) but using the following commands. I didn't get any errors
I su before I started the whole install process.
How do I know if the program has installed? How do I start the software? How do I download my pictures form my camera?
You should find the gPhoto2 program on the start bar menu, probably under multimedia or summat like that.
Failing that open a terminal window and type gphoto (or gphoto2)
When gPhoto is running it'll likely have an option in a file menu called 'acquire source'?.
I have managed to get it working, I just typed gphoto2 into a terminal window and it gave me a load of options. To get the photo's from the camera, I just need to type I am now going to have play about with it and see what I can do with it!
Thanks again, you have helped me compile and install my first bit of software from source code!
congrats :D and your welcome :D
Well done Barry, you don't get that level of satisfaction with a Windows installer do you?
