drivers for kernel 2.4
I'm newbe so it's propably stupid question but :
does driver which was written for 2.4 kernel will work on 2.6 , device is
rather expensive and before i buy it i want to be sure it will work,
if drivers for server motherboard are written for suse , will they work on debian ??
how to check which chipset and sata for example are supported on 2.6
any info , links will be helpfull
I'm no Guru when it comes to kernel issues, but if a device works with 2.4, then it should work with 2.6. As far as the device in question, what is it? Brand name, Model Number? Maybe we can look it up.

The 2.4 driver module is called "sundance". The 2.6 kernel has a module for the Sundance "Alta" chip. I can't be sure if this is the same driver, but it most likely is. The only way to be sure is to try the card out.
