ibm thinkpad t21 ram
i have a question about ram,
here are my specs:
32 gb hdd, 22 gb free space
256 mb ram
pentium III coppermine
the max ram it can hold is 512 mb
i was wondering if i should double it , or would it affect my performance?
256 MB RAM is a little light. Many distros, especially those using KDE or GNOME, will perform better if you have 512 MB. Basically, with less RAM, you're using your swap space more often, which means writing to the harddrive, a significantly slower process than operating entirely to RAM.
i am using 40% of my swap, and 75% of my memory, so you are saying it would be a good idea to upgrade?
Yes, if you have the option, I would definitely add RAM.
An upgrade to the full 512MB capacity would be money well spent! :)
i dont think i am going to upgrade, my dad said we were not going to do much to the laptop since it is ancient, so it will run like that till i get a new laptop, i will probably do that in the next two years :)
