linksys wmp54g v2.0
I have just installed Mandrake linux 10.1 on my computer. I am trying to configure my linksys pci wireless card. I used ndiswrapper -i to install the windows driver but I can't seem to get passed that. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.
what message are you getting when you do a
if no errors are present, next step is to do a:
if modprobe throws up some errors, instal the kernel sources, it can be found on the Mandrake 10.1 cd/dvd, just do a search for it in MCC's add new software section.
when I initially installed the driver I got this "bcmwl5 is already installed". Use -e to remove it"
So then I typed ndiswrapper -l and got this
"Installed ndis drivers:
bcmwl5 hardware NOT present
bmcwl5 hardware NOT present
bmcwl5.ing hardware NOT present"
So then I went ahead and did ndiswrapper -m and the modprobe ndiswrapper
From there I went to configure your computer, Network & Internet, Manage Connection. From here I am not able to select my linksys card still. I also read somewhere that I should select ndiswrapper but that is not available.
remove it and reinstall the driver. One question, are you using the drivers which came with the card or are you using one found on the internet?
if using the cd, try one of the drivers tested to work with ndiswrapper
Thanks for the help. I ended up logging in to KDE as root then deleted the files that were in /etc/ndswrapper actually they were just blank folders with the name of my driver file name. Then I ran ndiswrapper again and it worked fine. It just took me several hours to figure it out. Thanks again.
