Monitor switching off
I know it isn't a linux problem but my monitor (tft) will run fine for about 15 minutes from cold and then the backlight will switch off, but apart from that it works fine (if you look closesly you see the screen is still on and you can see content). Thanks for any help/ideas.

Sounds like something inside is over heating and shutting down. Might be a good time to start looking for a new monitor.

Do you think is it likely this could be fixed?

If you can find a specialist then they might be able to fix it for you, it might just be a capacitor that is failing which could be replaced.

You may want to check your power settings on the monitor and on your computer. I have know for them to be changed the main user of the computer knowing (i.e. a program or someone else) which may be causing your backlight to turn off.
I have had monitors turn off on me before after a certain amount of time and that has been one source of the problem often.
If it is a fairly similar amount of time each time then that may be your problem.

From cold it is 20 minutes but after that it is much shorter. If it has just gone off, then you pull the power supply out then in again it will turn off after about a second.
-
Definitatly sounds like an internal problem then.
Hopefully it is still in warrenty and you can send it back to the manufacturer. If not then your options are limited as finding someone to fix it can be hard and will most likely be expensive.
The easiest option may be to buy a new one.

LOL.
Thats suppose to happen. Don't worry. There is nothing wrong with you're monitor. It happens when the monitor is usually idle and is not set to go on stand by. My monitor does it too. But thats because I'm too lazy to change the bios

My monitor is set to go on standby, what can you change in the bios regarding the monitor?
