Multiple sound cards

Hi,

I was just wondering, this is all hypothetical, but would linux support multiple sound cards? If i was thinking of a really cheap alternative to a recording studio, could I just through in 2 or 3 cheap sound cards and record off all three simulataneously?

Any one know if this has been done?? It sounds fun!
