Multiport Serial Card
I'm currently trying to get a multiport serial card working in Linux. So far, I've ran
It's only come up with the two that are on the mobo.
#dmesg | grep -i tty
Looking at the output of "lspci -v" I see that the card is listed but states that it's an unknown device.
If the card is recognized by Linux (I guess if the correct driver is loaded) how would I be able to verify this?
Sprucio, have you figured out how to configure your multi-port serial card yet? I am having similar problems and definitive answers seem to be very elusive.
I am trying to use a National Instruments PCI-232/8 RH Enterprise 4. So far, no luck:-/
I haven't pursued this lately but I'm betting the best way to get this is to purchase one that is already supported by the kernel. Do a bit of research and find out the least amount of work you have to do after you purchase the card.
From the reading I've been doing, some of them require that you recompile the kernel and add features. I don't mind doing them but I'd just go with a card that's easily supported to bypass this method.
