No audio with VIA VT8235 Southbridge Embedded chipset
I recently set up a dual boot system with Fedora Core 3 and Windows XP. I have a V4MDM/V4MDMP Motherboard with an embedded VIA VT8235 Southbridge chip. According to VIA this chip is capable of supporting six channel audio, and since I don't have a sound card it has served as my sound device. It works fine in Windows XP, but there are some issues in Fedora. Fedora detects it, but when I attempt to do a soundtest I do not hear the test sound. However I have been able to get a very tinny/low quality sort of sound when I play some of the games bundled with Fedora. Othertimes it will play one sound over and over again until I reboot the system. However it will not play sound from CD's or music files, which is what I'm really interested in. From what I've read at the VIA website, the drivers for this chip are built into kernal versions above 2.6 and I have 2.6.10 something. I've searched the net, but found nothing. I'm really at a loss about how to fix this problem, so if someone could point in the right direction it would be a huge help. Thanks for your time.
