Quadro FX workstation graphics
Does anybody have actual first hand experience on how the Quadro FX cards fare under linux as compared to their GeForce counterparts? I have the mobile version of a Quadro FX 1500 in my laptop and I'm quite happy with it. Now I'm looking to buy a desktop for myself and want good opengl support (for beryl, for rendering programs like blender but also for developing opengl applications including shader programs).
Is there any real advantage to having a "professional" card under linux except for a small number of proprietary applications? Does beryl for example use any of the overlays or hardware clipping functions that are present in these cards and not in "consumer" cards?
Any thoughts on noise levels and power consumptions? I'm looking at a quiet build probably based on Antec's P182 case.
