Recommendation on LCD display

Hi folks,

I need a 23" / 24" LCD display for computer with following essential requirement:

Height adjustment
Resolution - 1920 x1080 approx
VGA, HDMI and DVI input
Viewing angle - 170/160 deg (Horizontal/Vertical) approx

I found following models:-

Philips 23" 230C1HSB LCD(12000:1,2ms,USB,DVI,HDMI,Spk,Full HD)
Philips 23" 230E1HSB LCD (12000:1,DVI,HDMI,Spk,Full HD)

and

Philips 24" 244E1SB LCD(25000:1,2ms,USB,DVI,HDMI,Spk,Full HD)
Philips 24" 241E1SB LCD (25000:1,DVI) black

Their price are acceptable to me. Built-in speaker is NOT important to me.

Please shed me some light. What will be your comment? What other brand and model would you suggest? TIA

Acturally I prefer 23" model because of the computer table size. But I found the price for 23" and 24" LCD displays are almost the same.

You may also want to look at LG Flatron W2361VG.

They are 50000:1,2ms,VGA,DVI,HDMI,Full HD and use the resolution you wanted.

I use two of these and like them very much. The only complaint I have found people to have is in saying it has a flimsy stand. My answer to this is not to be jumping on your desk and you shouldn't have an issue.

I've had really good luck with Samsung LCD widescreen monitors. I'm not really sure which models meet your specification requirements, but the brand itself is certainly worthy of consideration.

I use 2 Dell 24" high-res panels - one is a 2405FPW and the other (newer) is a 2407WFP. They provide 1920x1200 resolution, as well as VGA and DVI interfaces. The current offering in this class is the S2409W display ($279 USD on Dell's web site) which also has the HDMI interface as well as VGA and DVI. For $599 USD they have the Ultrasharp U2410 display which supposedly has better contrast and color gamut specs. For graphics arts and serious video processing, it would be a better, though significantly more expensive, option. For $329.99 USD they have a Samsung T240H which has similar specs to the 2409 Dell, but better contrast. Personally, you really can't go wrong with any of these displays. One thing I like about Dell is that they deal with warranty issues very effeciently.

I purchased a Samsung 2494HM 24" LCD display with height adjustment and HDMI input. It is a nice display. Unfortunately it does not come with a driver for HDMI. Although it works on Fedora 12 64 bit, the top and bottom tool bars are only half seen including both right and left sides. I'm still trying to figure out a solution. Any suggestion? TIA

Lowering the resolution to 1680 x 1050 then the above problem gone

Don't know. I use DVI interfaces. What is the resolution of the display, and what video card are you using?

Ok. I presume then that you have checked for driver updates from ATI/AMD for this card? Have you tried the open source ATI driver?

Where is the open source ATI driver? Thanks.

I solved my problem "overscan" as follow;

After evoking the software built-in on the LCD display select "Setup" and scroll down to "AV mode". Change it to "Off".

Restart X. Now the problem disappears
