what about L2 Cache?
I hope this is an appropriate place to ask this question. Though its a bit general.
Nowadays, we see processors like Centrino with 2Mb L2 cache , while the old ones are of 256kb or 512kb L2 caches.
Does a processor with bigger L2 cache mean better performance?
I can't speak from anything other than personal experience since I'm not all that fully-versed in the science behind how CPUs work, but I know when I upgraded my main rig from an AMD Athlon 2700 (512MB Cache) to an AM64 3200 (1MB Cache) I noticed a significant increase in speed while loading levels in Doom 3 and other memory-hungry applications.
