Which would be a better pick?

Ive done some research and have decided that the Proxim ORiNOCO Classic Gold card was the best choice for my laptop running Slackware.

One of the reasons I like this card because I heard you can attach an external antenna

Now the Proxim ORiNOCO Classic Gold supports IEEE 802.11b but the ORiNOCO 11a/b/g ComboCard supports a/b and /g.

This laptop is a workstation mostly. I do use it from time to time as a test machine and I do install different types of security testing software. This brand of card has been highly recommended by other professionals

I'm not entirely sure what your question is, but if you're wondering which of the two cards to get I think you should decide if you really need 802.11a or g.

Few public access points support anything but 802.11b, and it is still faster than most home internet connection, so I'm content with it. It's also cheaper and the hardware is more established/tested.

If you do need a/g, just research the combocard's linux support. If it's well supported, it looks like a good buy.
