It seems I'm still stuck. I'd used nero for my first cd and after chatting with a friend, he adviced to use alcohol 120. I did exactly as he adviced, elive booted just fine, except when clicking on the installer icon, now nothing happens; it's acting like the installer was empty. even though having spent money for 2 cd's which had to be trashed, i feel a little upset about not being able to install elive.
any suggestions?
thanks

Here's a HowTo you can use to make sure you download and burn your image to the CD correctly:
http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/ins...nstall-cd.html
Let us know how it goes.oz

Ok, I tried burning the image once again with nero and it burned just fine. It booted up fine. When I clicked on the installer, here's the exact error I get:
Elive installer stopped running unexpectedly
Error information
an ext code of 1 was returned from sudo eliveinstaller
Output Data
Start installer
Unmounting possible mounted partitions
The Old Elive system lists as:
Selection of a partitioner
(then to the right it shows)
Error logs
/usr/bin/zenity:error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libcairo.so2: invalid ELF header

/usr/bin/zenity:error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libcairo.so2: invalid ELF header
3 wasted cd's so far...
I don't think I'm burning the image incorrectly, i just follow instructions (burn image>select image>burn at 4x, etc)
I downloaded the image from linuxtracker, twice. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I'm not sure what those errors mean, but it still sounds like maybe a corrupted download or CD to me.
Just curious... did the md5sums check out properly before you burned the image to disk?oz

I couldn't check md5sums because after downloading and burning I just erased the .iso. I'll just download it somewhere else, I believe the tracker was corrupt or something corrupted my download. I'll post again once i've gotten a new copy.
Thanks for helping ozar, I guess it's just a matter of time before I can get this to work.
