Cant Access Installation Screen
Hi All
Ive bought SUSE 9.1 Personal & am trying to install onto a Win 98 500Mhz 128Mb RAM PC with 2 hard disks, the first 9Gb, the second an empty 40Gb disk I intend to use for Linux.
The CD boots but I am left with the message:
"ISOLinux 2.08 0x40772248c Copyright (C) 1994-2003 H.Peter Anvin
Loading...
Initialising gfx code...
Memory: 0x10020 - 0x68000, img data at 0x48010"
The PC then hangs before the green SUSE logo loads.
Anybody any ideas how I can get round this problem. Ive spent money on the OS and a new hard disk so am determined to get this to work.
Thanks

Sounds like your RAM may have bad sectors or maybe your video memory...DL memtest86 and run it to check your RAM.

It seems that either ISOLinux doesn't like your computer for whatever reason, or you have bad mem like sarumont says.
Try writing out a boot floppy from Windows (I haven't tried SuSE, but most Linux distros have a boot floppy option, so SuSE should as well), and then try booting the installer through that one and see if that works.

Thanks for your help
Tried memtest, no problems found. Have given up on SUSE and downloaded Mandrake 10, no problems with install. Small problem to fix with the USB mouse but otherwise no problems.
Thanks for your help anyway

Same thing
Same thing happens to me on SuSE 9.2 Pro. My PC has the following configuration: PCCHIPS M598 Mobo, 224 MB RAM, K6-2 500 Processor and a GeForce 2 MX 440 64 MB PCI Video Card.
