I hope someone can help because I came here for help
on a similar problem when I saw this thread. I installed a
second drive for Linux. My hard drive is also Seagate,
number ST316081A.It works fine in Windows and I can see
it in the BIOS.
So far PCLinusOS,Debian netinstall, and Sabayon don't show
it. They just show my first hard drive and my external drive.
The strange thing is that Zenwalk and Fedora did show the
Seagate. I tried installing both of them but they both had
bootloader errors. I don't know if that's related or just my bad
luck.

Which version of Red Hat are you trying to install? Try typing 'linux all-ide-generic' at boot: prompt. It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
