Installing Linux and dual boot with Windows98SE
Hi,
I am new to linux, and want to learn the O/S. I have computer which has Widnows98 SE OEM (NEC), it has AMDK6 processor and 2 HDD.
I wanted to install linux on second HDD and but want to boot linux with floppy or CD, meaning I want to create all Linux partittions on second HDD and Floppy/CD have pointer to boot from that Drive. Is this achievable?
Thanks

It used to be very common to set up a Linux system this way,
and as far as I know, should still be possible, though some people
are saying that kernels are getting too big to fit on a floppy any
more.
If your installation prompts you to create a boot floppy, you say
"yes". Later, when it prompts to install the bootloader (LILO or
GRUB), you say "no"
The system will boot Windows normally, but will boot Linux when
the boot floppy is in the drive. The boot floppy image can also
be used as the basis for a bootable CD that will do the same thing.
