Retrieving Vista
Hi
I had Windows Vista installed on my machine and then decided to install Ubuntu on a seperate partition. After i while i wanted to delete Ubuntu so i deleted its partition in Windows Disk Manager. When i came to reboot the machine i got an error code from GRUB. Now i can only run the computer by booting of the Ubuntu Live CD. I really want to be able to get back into Vista and have tried reinstalling Ubuntu on a fresh partition and reinstalling GRUB from there but it doesnt work.
Can anyone give me some help?
Thanks
Richard.

Here's the HowTo for fixing the MBR from Microsoft:
How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows Vista
The following is the code you'll need:
Code:bootrec.exe /fixmbr bootrec.exe /fixboot

Thanks!
I had exactly the same problem, and your solution worked for my Vista installation. MBR is fixed. Thanks again!
