installation problem of packages in ubuntu 7.10
hello ,
i am a beginner in ubuntu, i have installed th eubuntu 7.10 gusty on to my pc,i want to compile the my kernel in ubuntu...for i have gone throgh

i that i was telling that u have to install the necessary packages...
i.e like kernel-packages, kernel-source...
it can be done by
sudo apt-get install kernel-package
but it was giving the error..
Reading package lists ...Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information ...Done
E:Couldn't find package kernel-package
i am trying to install from the CD.. i am not connected to internet ..
where i am doing wrong...
how to install the packages...where i have to download and how to install them
plz help..

Your machine must have internet access to download/install packages through apt-get. You can download kernel source from kernel.org.
