Newbie login problem
I installed RHEL 5 fine and set up login accounts using GNOME. I then changed the init to 3 per nVidia instuctions for installing nVidia graphics driver from the consol. I rebooted and got the consol login. But, the login will not accept the root account, nor either of the other two accounts I set up. What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks, this worked and allowed me to change back to booting into GNOME. From the GUI, my passwords work fine. But, the passwords still do not work from the console when I "init 3". Not sure what the problem is, but the password line does not appear to respond to the entry of the password. On Windows systems, there are "****" shown, but not in this case. Is there some additional option that needs to be enabled? Thanks for the assistance.

Nothing appear on screen while typing password, not even *****. Just type correct password and hit Enter key.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
