how to install happy valley 0.9 (Stampede Linux 0.9)

    Dear guys:

I am a newbie in the Linux World. Searching across the Linux distributions I found Stampede Linux. I downloaded the happy valley 0.9 version. Would you be kind enough to teach me how to install it?. I know that this distribution is no longer maintained. However reading some papers in the Internet looks like is perfect for my pentium II computer.

    Sincerely,

    psaborio

what exactly did you downlaoid, and iso? if so, burn it and then boot it, if it just gives you a black screen and a cursor, look for a installation guide online, but more likely you will get some sort of gui or lowres installation guide.

I downloaded the iso image from:
    http://ftp.cesnet.cz/OS/Linux/Stampe...appyvalley.iso
Then, burn it in a disk. However the disk is not bootable and doesn´t contain the boot and root images. In the Stampede homepage I downloaded both images, but I cant run the root disk (rootdisk.gz) in DOS mode.
During a couple of days I tried to find either an install, FAQS or readme document concerning Stampede installation. However the links in their homepage are death.

    Many thanks for your response,

    psaborio.

Thats the problem with a deaddistro... out of curiosity, what exactly is so great about stampede that precedes any current disto? if you want one that will run on an old machine, dont worry about that, ive gotten stuff to run on some absurdly old machines

I already probed: Peanut Linux 8.4, Vector Linux, Redhat 7.0, Basic Linux,
Monkey Linux and PhatLinux on my machine. However the performance is not the better. Reading an old Stampede review they said that the software is optimized for Intel and the performance is better when compared to other distributions at that time, including RedHat.

    Sincerely,

Did you make sure you preserved permissions when you burned the ISO?

    Yes I did.
Also I search through the CD in order to find some installing documentation available, but do not exist.
