WILL NOT install
i have an old HP pavilion computer with a P4 1.5ghz 1gb ram and it ran winXP well. I have wiped harddrive with Active Killdisk and have tried several linux distros on this box and (am familiar w/installation process-debian user) can't for the life of me, get any to install. typical scenario is, i get through boot and partition and most of install, but i never can complete it.
is it possible that there are computers that just WILL NOT install linux?

It could be some sort of hardware issue. Which distributions did you try and do you know exactly which part of the installation fails?

i do not plan on trying it again; it wastes too much time.
my question is:
is it possible that there are,
or have you ever heard of:
computers that just WILL NOT install linux?

You should be able to install Linux on any computer and I personally have never heard of computers where Linux cannot be installed. In your case, it seems like you have some sort of hardware issue. I would have tried to work out how to resolve it with you, but since you said you are not going to try again it'd be a waste of time.
