Did you have another OS installed and running before installing xubuntu?

Did you burn the xubuntu CD as an iso image and do the md5 checksum?
What is your partition setup? How many partitions? which OS on which partition, etc?
When the install stops, do you get any error messages? blank screen? screen just stops?

i tried checking the cd but even that was slow,

burned it disc at once as an iso image some time ago.. it worked on the travelstar the first time i installed xubuntu but i never got around to networking with it because i found the 20 gig and threw xp on that. with the flexibility i threw linux back on.

i only wanted 1 partiton. well two if you count the swap. the installer gets to 48% and then itll stop

itll say something like

%48
Copying files
8:12 left

then after 5 minutes itll say

copying files
2340:35 left.

and another case it said the installer crashed so honestly i have no idea
