[SOLVED] boot loader problems
Hi all
Using ACRONIS i cloned an 80 gig drive with centos 4.5 installed to a new 250 gig drive. HOwever in booting up i realised that the boot loader needed to be installed on the 250 gig drive so then i I then upgraded the installation to 5.1 and installed the 5.1 bootloader. Now im booting my centos 5.1 installation but its halting to a screen which shows :
GNU GRUB version 0.97
[minimal bash -like line editing is supported................................]
GRUB>
need some help as i am stuck from here

Do you still have the 80GB drive in your machine? Did you install Grub on the 250GB drive to the mbr or /boot partition? If you have both drives, which is set as the first drive? I googled this a bit and your not the only one with problems like this w/centos 5.1 and grub.

Execute this at GRUB> prompt :
Post output here.Code:find /boot/grub/stage1
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

ok ... before u guys posted here is wat i did.. i disconnected the 80 gig and i reinstalled centos 5.1 on the 250 gig drive now i have the option of installing the boot loader on the master boot record(MBR) or the first sector of the boot partition ... which should i choose?

Install Boot Loader in Master Boot Record (MBR) only.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

when i type in "find /boot/grub/stage1" i get
ERROR 15 : FILE NOT FOUND

how can i get the grub to load.. what do i need to do from here?

Boot up from SuperGRUB CD and select Fix Linux Boot Loader (GRUB) option. If confs files are correct then SuperGRUB should fix this problem.
