    installing linux AS4 on sata HDD

    pls let me know how to install linux on sata HDD

    That is Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS4, right?Have you already tried to install it and you faced an issue?
    Red Hat should automatically detect your sata HDD and proceed with the installation. There is also Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 which supports newer hardware as well as CentOS 5 (recompile of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 with a different brand name)

    You must give as more info: your hardware specifications and what you intend to use your computer for(so we may suggest you a distro to fit your needs better if it is the first time you use Linux).

    Yes i have tried to install linux AS4 on my system it gave me an error saying HDD not found and disk driver needed.

    My hard disk is 250 GB SATA and AMD64 4600+ with 1GB ram

    I wanted to install Linux for installing oracle 11i

    Try passing all-generic-ide parameter to installer.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
