Is it possible? Absolutely! I've managed to get 5 OSes on one hard drive before. The only weirdness is getting your bootloader to recognize all the different OSes.

Is it harmful? Well, if you wipe out an installation of another OS accidentally, it can be. Just be careful not to write over your other OS (keeping a written record of what OS is on what drive is good) and you should be fine.
