ubunutu 8.04 problem
I am trying to install ubuntu from the cd and everything appears to go fine. but when i boot it, it takes about 4 minutes to load and it doesn't even load the gui. I have tried to find solutions online but sudo is not even recognized as a command. I used the program that checks to make sure the .iso is fine as well. My machine is a brand new q6600, with dfi p35 mobo, ati 4870. any ideas? think i am just going to try another distro.

i also ran the cd checker built into the iso and that checked out fine. the live cd option also works fine so not sure what the heck the deal is.

Have you tried other options at boot time? Try booting with the noprobe option.
