Linux installed on RAID1

HOW TO INSTALL LINUX ON RAID1 CONTROLLED BY MOTHERBOARD

Currently I'm using Windows XP on RAID1 which is set on bios level on Gigabyte EP45-DS3R motherboard (the integrated on board controller).

Now I need to add Suse the the same RAID drives. There is space left for SUSE (I've been waiting for 11.1).

How to install Suse, which is not really aware of the already set RAID, not desynchronizing raided drives? I should somehow load the RAID drivers (those refering to BIOS) before system loads. For XP I just needed to compile my own installation DVD with the proper drivers from Gigabyte. There is no such option (I never heard) for Suse.

Any ideas, experience?
