I have a dual boot SuSE 9.1 pro and XP OS. Can I replace XP with another linux distro? And if so, can I do it without starting over?...

Yes you can!!! The only thing you'd have to do is make sure it doesn't install a new Bootloader and you edit your current config files for your bootloader so you can boot into it, or you can install a new one and add suse 9.1 pro to your new bootloader.
