intel i875 ICH5 not detecting my cdrom
hi all. i have been struggling with this for the last two days, and I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction.
i have a Asus pc-dl mobo running 2.6.8.1 smp. it has the ich5 southbridge controller giving it sata, pata, and raid functions. I have my bios in "combine" mode, which apparently maps all the drives (sata/pata) to primary/secondary master/slave which worked fine for installing debian. but now that the system is up and running, my cdrom drive isn't accessable anywhere i can find.
the dmesg (attached below) seems to have recognized it (search for PATA), but i cannot mount anything that is it (ie /dev/cdrom, /dev/hdc, /dec/scd0, nothing).
inspected /proc/scsi section show only my primary hdd (attached as sata) and my two other scsi drives on my promise controller. /proc/ide doesn't show anything except a drivers file saying ide-cdrom is loaded.
any help anyone can give would be great! thanks a lot.
eric
