PS3 installation w/o blu ray drive?
Hi all, I'm looking at buying a PS3 with a broken CD drive and using it as a desktop. Could I still install Linux with a flash drive? I've used unetbootin plenty of times with laptops, but I have no experience with the PS3.

Good question! Doesn't the PS3 use a non-intel (and incompatible) processor? If so, then I doubt that Unetbootin would work since the boot loader it installs is for x86 family chips. What about using an external USB CD/DVD drive on the system? If it can boot from a USB thumb drive, then it certainly should boot from a USB CD/DVD drive.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

That might just work. I'll try and borrow one from a friend and boot from the CD.
