Redhat 9 password fails
My password now fails? don't know why, or what to do to log in
& when I installed the os when the sound card came up it saw the
C-Media card & froze up, so I started over & bypassed setting up the
sound card. I have no sound.
When I had Mandrake installed the sound was ok..
Any suggestions? Iam real new to linux & am going nuts, I want to
upgrade my nvidia driver & I have read the step by step on this forum &
am still lost. I do not know how to get in to console mode only.
I can get into a console window in gnome but thats as far as I get.

Does your root password work? If so, log in to a text terminal (press Ctrl+Alt+F1 if you're in X), and run "passwd username", where usernameis the name of your real user. That will allow you to choose a new password for that user.
