hi all
i am new to linux & i dont know what i am doing....
i have i just installed yellow dog linux 6.1 on my ps3 & i am having a very very very hard time loading java & flash player.... its not like windows... its dam hard!
i need a step by step to load them both, i have looked on youtube & google with no luck on my other pc, i have looked on here as well but still lost
help please......

i am not aware of yellow dog linux 6.1.
but one thing for java, sun provide free download of
jdk-6u16-linux-i586.bin at their website. it should work for you as it is for all distros ( i think so)
it can be installed byjust follow the instructions on screen.Code:su chmod +x jdk-6u16-linux-i586.bin ./jdk-6u16-linux-i586.bin

sorry i should of said, i can download it ok but, i click on it to open the file to load it then it ask me for my password for root then i click ok, then a window pops up installing packages then i get a nother window pop up saying NO PACKAGES WERE GIVEN FOR INSTALLATION
thats where i am lost

YDL is a deritive of Redhat/Fedora, can't you use the system package manager to install flash?
They do not have a PPC version but they do have a YUM version.

i now have it installed but! when i go on to sites like justin.tv or youtube it says i need flash player
now i am more lost now! i am not liking this linux so far
any more help would be nice,

I think the problem may be related to YDL more than just Linux, I use Flash for youtube and several other websites and I never seem to have a problem. Maybe it's a PPC thing.
Check your about:plugins in Firefox to make sure Flash is installed.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.
