    Welcome!
i am not aware of yellow dog linux 6.1.
but one thing for java, sun provide free download of
jdk-6u16-linux-i586.bin at their website. it should work for you as it is for all distros ( i think so)
    it can be installed by
    Code:
    su
    chmod +x jdk-6u16-linux-i586.bin
    ./jdk-6u16-linux-i586.bin
just follow the instructions on screen.
let us know how it goes.
Sorry, Linux is not my passion .
    Its addiction!!!

YDL is a deritive of Redhat/Fedora, can't you use the system package manager to install flash?
They do not have a PPC version but they do have a YUM version.
    Adobe - Adobe Flash Player

I think the problem may be related to YDL more than just Linux, I use Flash for youtube and several other websites and I never seem to have a problem. Maybe it's a PPC thing.

Check your about:plugins in Firefox to make sure Flash is installed.
