Second you have to decide Linux or Windows and Linux.
(I recommend to have both)
First install Windows or maybe it is allready there.
Then defragmentate the Windows partition.
Start LiveCD
Start GParted and reduce the size of Windows partition create 2 more partitions:
One big one extended
and a small primary one (=> Linux-Swap ~2xRAM)
into the big one set logigal drives: one for data (Ntfs so you can reach data from windows and from linux)
and at least one per each distro you want to install (formated to ext3)
run installation tool for Linux
follow the advices read carefully)
You will have to decide if you want Grub as boot-manager or if you want to stick with windows bootmanager.
The second one at the beginning is more difficult but it is said by germans ubuntu-page its the way of traditionalists and security-fanatics (I think they know me )
Most Linux installation guides will do everything automatic but keep reeding carefully if not you will not understand and problems will be programmed. |
