Uninstalling software installed from source
this may be a seriously ignorant question...
have installed xine and xine-ui from source...both appeared to install properly, i.e. no errors produced, multiple directories created. somehow i managed to install the source twice, must have been tired used /usr/local and /usr/bin, yielding warnings when xine-check is executed. my question is can the "extra" installation simply be deleted from the file system or are other steps involved in "undoing" a successful installation? tnx

Some times you can run 'make uninstall' in the source directory but not all programs support that. But you can delete all the files by hand if you want without causing a problem.
