If you are by any chance hanging around again, reed9, I got myself into worse trouble.
I deleted the 2 linux partitions, planning to install Ubuntu from Windows Xp on the space I freed up (that might not even be the right thing to do, I don't know). Anyway, GRUB hung around, I guess? And I'm now getting the error message
As soon as I boot up. I can get into my BIOS if I try hard enough, though.Code:GRUB loading stage1.5. GRUB loading, please wait... Error 22
Anyway, I've been looking around and so I've tried booting up with FreeDos, SuperGrub, and I'm getting Universal Boot CD soon. I've been using UNetbootin to stick these on my USB drive, but so far, although they boot up fine, none of them do what they tell me they're going to.
Anyone have a surefire way to fix this?
Again, I appreciate any help

We have to check existing partition structure of your Hard disk first. Boot up from LiveCD/USB of any Linux distro and execute fdisk -l command in Terminal.
Post output here.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
