ACPI throttling in Linux. Please Help.
I am running dual boot XP and MEPIS Linux. I have noticed that when running in Linux my laptop runs a lot hotter then it does in windows. I got the ACPI setup, and it works well. The throttle options work good. My question is though is how can I set it up so it would throttle up and down automatically so that when I am browsing the net or something it would be working at maybe 20% capacity (80% reduction) and when I open up a movie it would automatically throttle up to 80 or 90% capacity depending on the need of the application.

It should support speedstep if it does I use speedfreq for it. But you need to have speedstep enabled in the kernel.
