[SOLVED] VirtualBox Problem on CentOS
Hello Everyone!
After installation of CentOS on my PC, I downloaded VirtualBox and installed but I got the following output in return. May I please ask for help how to go about this please?
Thanks in advance!

Maybe a dumb question but is your system's architecture x64 or x32?
- 04-09-2010 #4
Hello Dapper Dan,
Thank you.
Not a dumb question really.
The output (in red) says I "64x2", but honestly, i'm not pretty sure also.
EDIT: I tried to install the other one and got this output:Code:id: family-desktop description: Desktop Computer product: Unknow vendor: Unknow version: Unknow serial: Unknow width: 32 bits Try this one.
Link
I've been able to get the i386 version of this to install on my machines without incident. Hopefully this AMD64 version will work just as good for you.

Use yum instead of rpm to install the virtualbox package. It will deal with the dependencies better for you.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

Now here's a really dumb question
Two actually...
Dapper Dan, I downloaded the link and got a .run file. Am not familiar how to install
Rubberman, may I ask how yo use "yum" to install please.
I tried to install the i386 and here's what I got:
Code:[root@localhost ~]# rpm -ivh '/home/jun/Desktop/VirtualBox-3.1-3.1.6_59338_fedora9-1.i386.rpm' warning: /home/jun/Desktop/VirtualBox-3.1-3.1.6_59338_fedora9-1.i386.rpm: Header V4 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 6dfbcbae error: Failed dependencies: libcrypto.so.7 is needed by VirtualBox-3.1-3.1.6_59338_fedora9-1.i386 libcurl.so.4 is needed by VirtualBox-3.1-3.1.6_59338_fedora9-1.i386 libpython2.5.so.1.0 is needed by VirtualBox-3.1-3.1.6_59338_fedora9-1.i386 libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4.9) is needed by VirtualBox-3.1-3.1.6_59338_fedora9-1.i386 python(abi) = 2.5 is needed by VirtualBox-3.1-3.1.6_59338_fedora9-1.i386 [root@localhost ~]# yum install libcrypto.so.7 Loaded plugins: fastestmirror Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile * addons: mirror.averse.net * base: mirror.averse.net * extras: mirror.averse.net * updates: mirror.averse.net Setting up Install Process No package libcrypto.so.7 available. Go to the directory where you downloaded the VirtualBox rpm file, then enter the command (as root): yum install name.rpm
Obviously (I hope), 'name.rpm' is the real VirtualBox rpm filename. That's what I do. In fact, when I download a new version of VBox, I do the same thing, except use the 'yum update' command instead of 'yum install'.Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

These are the names of libraries, not the packages that they are found in. Try installing the packages, and then retry installing the VirtualBox rpm file:
crypto-utils
fuse-cryptofs
m2crypto
python-crypto
gcc
gcc-c++Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
Just remember, Semper Gumbi - always be flexible!
