Pctel modem problem
I have been using linux for about a year on & off now, but never had the internet (i know, like having a car without an engine, dont remind me).
Any way my problem is that Mandrake 9.0's hardware detection recognises the modem (PCtel pct789 winmodem) but i cant use it. kppp finds a modem on /dev/ttyS0 but no dial tone is heard and it times out. Windows tells me that the modem is on COM3.
Can linux use the pct789 modem + how do i get and install drivers for this modem.
thanks for any help any one can offer
