    Boot Linux from Windows

I have installed Unbuntu 10.04 with grub 2.0. I manage to boot to either Linux or Windows. My default boot system is still windows as I am fairly new to Linux.

My issue is that I access the machine remotely. How could I have the machine reboot under Linux when I am logged into Windows (Remote Desktop).

    Hi and Welcome !

You can not control Boot Loaders of any either Windows OS or Linux directly without editing their conf files. Linux boot loader, GRUB has a few options like savedefault with which you can set OS for next boot but in any case, it is not possible to set that from Windows OS.

You have to set Linux as default OS in GRUB or set its savedefault option.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
