Hello and welcome to the forums!

If you want to understand GRUB and how to configure it, the best tutorials that I've come across are these two, depending on which version of GRUB you are running:

    GRUB bootloader - Full tutorial

GRUB 2 bootloader - Full tutorial

Great resources! I learned a ton and was able to make a variety of cool tweaks and get everything running except still struggling with one OS. It starts to load and then freezes half way with the following error:

Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

my menu.1st file is pretty simple and clean and the other two OSs work fine. I have tried every change imaginable to no avail, and there are no references to (0,0) anywhere in the file. One potential problem:
Windows is on sga2 (runs great)
GRUB is on sga4 (no OS)
SliTaz is on sga5 (won't fully start)
Puppy is on sga7 (runs great)
I see grub installed on all 3 Linux formated partitions although sga4 is where the controlling menu.1st file appears to be. Could the other GRUBs be causing my problem? Or any ideas?
