Hayes Acura PCI internal modem not detected in SuSE V8.2 Pro
Can anyone help please.
P4 2.2 gb 512 MB ram. Modem is on Slot 5, Com3 in win XP
I have tried to manually set up the internal hayes V92 modem, all I get when trying to dial out is unkown host in K conqueror.
I tried the various "ports" in linux, initalise settings, anything I could see, I have it set on dial up and dynamic DNS address. but in the modem list, it states PPo for the thing.
I don't see a Linux driver at the Hayes web site.
However, if I can get my Speedtouch working on broadband I'll not really need the hayes modem, I have got the drivers and things for the Speedtouch, I just have to work out how to install it. Complex isn't the word. But it will all come - sometime.
Total newbie.
May I offer thanks in advance please.

Is this a WinModem? In that case you'll need a special driver for it. If it isn't, check /proc/tty/driver/serial and see what ports are listed.
Have you got this modem to actually dial a number and connect to the other node on it?

Yes, it's a winmodem, I've given up on it.
Thanks a lot for your reply.
