unable to find any devices of the type needed for this installation
i'm having amd athlon X2 dual core processor 5000+ 2.60 ghz processor on nvidia motherboard
320 gb westerndigital sata hard disk
2 gb ram
i'm facing problem while making my desktop dual boot
i'm having windows xp service pack 2 os on which i'm installing linux 5.1
when i boot from dvd i'm displayed unable to find any devices of the type needed for this installation type
i also used linux all-generic-ide irqpocl pci=nommconf
it worked and the installation was done but after reboot i recieved error message of kernel panic
i'm having sata hd then how were my partitions labeled as hda during installation
please suggest me solution for this problem

Hello and Welcome.
Please check your BIOS for any SATA/Legacy IDE settings....or you might need to update your BIOS if more than a few years old.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

i had actually found what is the problem
it is
ACPI Exception (acpi_processor-0681): AE_NOTE_FOUND, Processor device is not present [20060707]
how to overcome this issue...if any one help i'll be highly obliged
