[SOLVED] problem installing scientific linux 5.5 on my Dell XPS 15
Hi,
I have written the ISO file in a image format DVD and tried Installing Scientific Linux 5.5...The setup gets stuck at some point on my laptop.I get a blank screen.. .I have waited for half an hour but no progress on screen.I have tested the DVD which is asked in the setup and it was said the setup is proper
I have DELL XPS 15
System Config: Intel i5 processor,4GB DDR3 RAM,500GB HDD,etc..
The same DVD when tried on my desktop works fine(No freezing)
My desktop config: Intel p4,1GB DDR RAM,80GB HDD.
CAN ANYONE PLS HELP ME FIND WHATS WRONG IN MY procedure....I have written the DVD using my laptop only.

If the DVD works on a desktop but not on a laptop, there is likely something about the hardware that Linux is not agreeing with. You can try some of the additional boot options that are available to see if they'll get you around certain hardware issues:

It could be due to settings in the BIOS, especially with regard to the sata or legacy usb configuration settings.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
Just remember, Semper Gumbi - always be flexible!
