Make file errors in Alcatel file
suse 8.2 Pro. distro.
P4 512mb ram.
Trying to install my Alcatel Speedtouch usb bband modem.
I downloaded the open source driver from Alcatels site.
speedtouch.tar.gz
Used the command tar -xvzf speedtouch.tar.gz to extract it.
that went OK.
then I enterd the command:- make
every line in the output was either an error or invalid.
Then I was supposed to enter the command:- make install
but, of course that gave errors.
I am new to this, but all I can come up with is,
it says in the info I got from SuSE,and that is as far as SuSE will help, is to make sure the packages,
make, gcc and glibc-devel are installed.
How do I find out,
and, I placed the compressed speedtouch file in my home directory, should I put it somewhere else then "work" on it.
Any help very much appreciated.
