Mandrake 9.1 Installation Help
I downloaded and successfully burned the 2 cd's needed for the Mandrake 9.1 installation. Everything is OK except my hard drives run off of a SIIG PCI ULTRA ATA 133 IDE Controller Card and mandrake doesnt have the scsi/ide driver for that controller and I couldnt find a generic one.
So I went to http://www.siig.com and found linux drivers here http://www.siig.com/drivers/ide_pc_p...ra_driver.html so I downloaded the *.tar file but I really havent dealt with linux before so I am really stumped by the following instructions....can anyone explain how to do this:
1) Download and extract atp865.tar in Linux.
2) Replace with these source code files.
3) Recompile kernel.
4) Use the embedded RAID software in Linux to support RAID functions (for UltraATA 133 PCI RAID only).
5) For new installation of Linux, specify a third party SCSI or IDE driver and copy the source code files. You might need to perform a custom installation.
