Need to get rid of Linux and use only Windows

I saw the restore partition and the computer had a shortcut on the desktop to make restore cd's.

What brand of computer is it? HP? Do you see anything like that in the start menu?

Do you have other logins on the machine? Maybe you could make a new login and the default desktop would be re-created with the shortcut.

Thanks for the win98 help. Will the same thing work with XP on a computer that came with no cd and only a restore partion on the hard drive

You don't need a CD... Download the Windows XP installation disks from Microsoft (I believe it is one file that makes 6 disks) and this will basically do the same thing as starting up from the CD... Once you're given the option choose Rescue and type fixmbr followed by fixboot (fixboot isn't really needed but it doesn't hurt either).
