old laptop,want linux,just floppy
I have an old gateway laptop that my cisco teacher gave me and i would really like to put linux on it but it only has a floppy drive on it and i cant switch it out to a cdrom. it has a 3GB hard drive and im a user of linux and just fiqured it was a good os for this old thing. But how? any help would be kool.

If the laptop has an ethernet card you could boot from a Debian floppy and do a net install.

Does it have a PCMCIA slot? You could pick up an ethernet card for that.

well yea i have slots for two, but would it recognize it just by buooting up durning the POST test? cause theres no OS on the laptop now.

That's a good question. I've never run the Debian floppy before so I can't say how well it detects hardware.
